Towns and villages across south Wales are gearing up for Christmas with a little help from Wales’s home-grown broadband provider – Ogi.

As communities come together this winter, Ogi’s ‘community elves’ will be getting in on the action, supporting local events and community groups right up to Christmas week.

Starting with Maesteg Town’s Christmas Parade on Saturday 02 December – where hundreds are expected to join the route – Ogi’s community team will lend a hand switching on Neyland’s Christmas tree, in partnership with west Wales principal contractor Network Plus, before getting stuck in at Caerphilly’s Winter Food and Craft Fair and a Dickensian day out in Dinas Powys.

Alongside appearances at some of south Wales’s best known annual events, the team will also be collecting food and toy donations to be given away locally – with staff from across the business getting involved too.

After a year of giving, that’s included over £40,000 donated to local grassroots clubs and good causes through the award-winning community fund ‘Cefnogi’, the team will also be continuing to offer volunteering opportunities, adding to the over 2,500 hours already spent helping out in the community.

Speaking about the list of events, Louise Clement, Ogi’s Community Engagement Lead, said: “Christmas is a great excuse to bring people together – especially in our communities; and staff are rolling up their selves to get involved, like they have done all year.

“It’s a difficult time of year for so many, but it’s amazing to see so many events taking place in our communities this year, with something for everyone – and we’re pleased to be able to play a small part in the action!”

Ogi’s community team will be out and about right up until Christmas, supporting community events and local groups in the run up to the holidays.
