New plans to support charities through our award-winning ‘Cefnogi’ programme have been announced, bringing volunteering, charity challenges and fundraising under one banner for the very first time.

The community-focused ‘Cefnogi’ scheme (cefnogi, meaning ‘support’ in Welsh) has, to date, offered more than £35,000 to local groups and community projects with staff taking part in well over 2,000 volunteering hours since the programme began in 2022.

The business is now extending the scheme to charities, with staff being encouraged to fundraise for their chosen organisations – instead of a single fixed corporately nominated charity.

As part of the new Cefnogi: giving programme, staff can apply for support to cover costs such as event entry fees, with the first £100 towards individual’s fundraising drive also on offer from the business.

Commenting on the new programme, People Experience Director, Lisa Hand, said: “Giving back to our communities is at the heart of everything we do here at Ogi – we’ve done it since day one, so you could say it’s in our DNA.

“We’ve previously supported Age Cymru, Blood Bikes Wales and the South and West Wales Wildlife Trust, but as the business grows, we’d like staff to have the option to choose charities they have a personal connection to.

“Building on the award-winning Cefnogi fund started by our Community Liaison team, makes sense, bringing all of our supportive activities under one uniquely Welsh banner. I can’t wait to see what epic challenges our staff put themselves forward for.”

The new charitable giving fund launches at the Chepstow Racecourse Charity Partners Race on August Bank Holiday Monday, with money raised supporting local charity Noah’s Journey. Staff will be encouraged to get involved throughout the year, supporting charities both local and national, in line with their own interests and experiences.

As well as offering funding for non-profit organisations, Ogi also provides discounts to small non-profits on core connectivity products and telephony services to accelerate their business operations and boost productivity. To be eligible organisations must hold recognisable legal charitable status, operate on a not-for-profit basis, and have a mission to benefit the broader community.
