Established 22 years ago, at its height, the music festival hosted a range of free and ticketed music and community events, attracting thousands from the surrounding area. Paused since 2020, due to the pandemic, the volunteer-run committee have been busy planning for the festivals return, with events taking place between May and September for the first time this year.

Ogi announced plans to build its ultrafast full fibre network to Dinas Powys this year, bringing home-grown gigabit capable speeds to homes and businesses in the Vale of Glamorgan village by the end of the year.

This new network will enable homes and local businesses to benefit from one of the best broadband experiences anywhere in the region – and is just the start of Ogi’s mission to bring real full fibre broadband to communities across south Wales, improving access to connected experiences and opportunities.

As part of a £5-6million investment in the village, Ogi are supporting community- driven projects which celebrate regional creativity – the festival being one of the first.

Speaking about the partnership, Festival Committee Chair, Mark Thompson said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be bringing Gŵyl Gerdd Dinas Powys back this year – backed by Ogi.”

“We’re all aware it’s been a challenging few years, yet as we begin to emerge from the pandemic stronger and more connected to our communities, I’m sure this year’s festival will remind us what living in our creative cluster is really all about.” he added.

Head of Brand and Engagement at Ogi, Sarah Vining, said: “It’s a real pleasure to be supporting Gŵyl Gerdd Dinas Powys this year. Community is at the heart of all we do here at Ogi, and it’s great to be able to play a small part in supporting events like this as they return back to our village halls and public spaces.”

“The music festival committee have worked hard, during uncertain times, to pull together a festival that has something for everybody, and I look forward to enjoying some of the acts and events this May and September.”

The Gŵyl Gerdd Dinas Powys Music Festival, supported by Ogi, takes place this year between May and September 2022. Tickets go on general sale from Monday 28 March at local outlets and www.dpmusfest.co.uk.
