A new full fibre network at Pembroke Dock’s Bridge Innovation Centre, is strengthening the digital foundations that support Pembrokeshire County Council’s ambition to help local businesses succeed.
The infrastructure replaces an ageing legacy connection with a dedicated, business-grade full fibre solution designed to grow alongside the companies it serves. A high-capacity symmetric core connection now feeds the site, supported by a secondary fibre route for added resilience, giving businesses the reliability and headroom they increasingly expect as standard.
Full fibre has also been extended throughout the building, with each office equipped to access its own dedicated connection. Businesses can scale their speeds as they grow, without disruption or further building work, removing a common barrier faced by start-ups and expanding teams.
“Digital infrastructure shouldn’t be something businesses have to worry about,” said Ogi’s Chief Executive Officer, Sally-Anne Skinner. “It needs to be dependable, flexible and ready to grow when they are. That’s exactly what we’ve put in place here.”
Behind the scenes, the network has been built with resilience and security in mind. Managed firewall protection, intelligent traffic management and continuous monitoring help keep services secure and performing as they should, while battery backup protects critical equipment during power interruptions.
Connectivity across shared spaces has also been upgraded, with new high-performance wifi designed to cope with busy days, events and collaborative working. Whether tenants are in their offices, meeting clients or hosting visitors, the experience is designed to be consistent and reliable throughout the building.
For the Council, the project is about more than technology. It’s about making sure the Innovation Centre continues to meet the needs of a wide mix of businesses, across different sectors and stages of growth.
“What businesses tell us they value most is confidence,” said Peter Lord, Pembrokeshire County Council’s Principal Officer for Business Development. “They want to know the infrastructure around them won’t limit their plans – and this investment gives them that reassurance.”
By strengthening the digital capability at Bridge Innovation Centre, the project helps position Pembrokeshire as a place where ambitious businesses can put down roots, grow sustainably and stay local as they scale.
“When the right infrastructure is already in place, it makes staying and growing locally a much easier decision,” added Sally-Anne. “That’s how you support long-term economic growth – by giving businesses what they need from day one.”
For Ogi, the installation forms part of a wider programme to support business communities across Wales, delivering full fibre networks and managed services that are designed for real working environments and long-term impact, not just connectivity on paper.
